1. Here We Go!

I’m feeling very Carrie Bradshaw right now (derogatory), sitting down and writing my first blog. I couldn’t help but wonder...do people still read blogs? I have loved reading since 1st grade when I was the last kid to learn how to read, “Leo, the Late Bloomer”. A very appropriately titled first read. I have had the itch to write since my middle school creative writing class, where I wrote an entire book about a talking snail (I’m still determined to rewrite this book).

However, there’s something terrifying about blogging. Like journaling, except everyone gets to see my thoughts? Horrifying.

But here we are. When I started writing my first book 18 months ago, it was my little secret kept in a Notes app. I was scared to tell anyone, and embarrassed to fail. It was only when I took the step and told the people in my life about my dream of writing that I grew in confidence and excitement. And my story grew into a full-fledged book, and then another one, and we’re still going strong with books three and four.

We aren’t supposed to live in isolation and hiding. Creativity thrives in open spaces, in community, in joy. So I hope this little space in this corner of the internet is fun and bright and open, where we can talk about all the creative, exciting, mundane, special things that bond us together.

I want this blog to be a place to talk about upcoming book releases, and maybe how that makes you feel as a fledgling author trying to break through in the industry. Talk about the art you are creating and how to inspire creativity in our friends, family, and children. Talk about how desperately we need a new Harry Styles album and how much music can impact our days and moods. Talk about a monthly book club pick with discussion questions that maybe leads you to start your own book club!! The opportunities are endless and I love the idea that we can not only exist together, but be excited together and appreciate all the little glimmers in life.
