About Selah Elyse
I'm a mom of three here in Phoenix, finding time to pursue my love of literature through my book community, in person and on social media.
I wrote my first full length book at 12 years old (I would love to re-write this MG fantasy novel). I have been inspired for years by Suzanne Collins, Emily Henry, and Louisa May Alcott.
For the last three years, I've read an average of 100 books. I stopped reading after getting burnt out of non-fiction from my Masters program. I picked up Fourth Wing in 2023 and haven't looked back since.
I am obsessed with pop culture and the arts in every form. I love art galleries and music. I watch every Oscars-nominated movie each year before throwing a party. You can always find me hosting watch parties, book clubs, and everything celebrity-related.

Frequently Asked Questions
What genres do you write?
I primarily focus my writing on romantic comedies and upmarket fiction, exploring love and relationships.
How can I follow your journey?
You can join my newsletter and of course, follow my journey on Instagram, Threads, and TikTok @afterhours.reading.club for updates and insights.
What is your favorite book?
My favorite book (right now) is "What the River Knows" by Isabel Ibañez.
I love archaeology and ancient Egypt, so the concept of combining treasure hunts with a magic system is right up my alley! A book that feels just like The Mummy is a perfect book!
Who is your favorite author?
My favorite author: Sarah Adams, forever and always.
Her writing is like a warm hug, the characters are charming, and I recommend the "When in Rome" series to anyone who will listen.
How often do you write?
Not enough! My vision casting for this next year involves a lot more rhythms. I want to create more structure, especially in writing. I write after my kids are in bed, but I would love to make it more of an experience so it is easier to sit down and accomplish. I try to write 5,000 words a week currently.
